Julia Ryde

A florist with almost 20 years’ experience, I am currently teaching the Foundation Degree and BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Floristry at Writtle College (Levels 4-6).  After graduating with a French degree, I had a career in Marketing before re-training as a Florist.  Since then I have worked for many years as a retail florist and run my own successful wedding and event business, working in some of the top venues in Essex.  I have also taught all levels of floristry from NVQ through to the degree – all backed up with an NDSF and post-graduate teaching qualifications.  In 2011, I became a member of the Judges Guild after passing the new UK judges examinations and later became Membership Officer for the Guild.

I am passionate about raising standards and encouraging a high level of skills and creativity and firmly believe education and competitions are a forum for increasing professionalism within the industry.
