Kate Whelan

Kate studied Surface Pattern and crafts at university and then found her passion, working at a small florist in Manchester. After retraining to earn floristry qualifications at college she then focused on retail floristry before concentrating on events as a speciallity.

In 2009 Kate left the UK to work in Bermuda as Corporate client cordinator for hotel contracts and destination weddings. This move allowed further development of her floral design skills and business acumen. On returning home Kate began a freelance career and gained a teaching qualification, wishing to share her experience with the next generation of florists.

Kate currently specialises in weddings through her own business. She freelances all over the UK and abroad, sits on the BFA Education and Training committee as well as being an area manager for the Institute of Professional Florists. Most recently Kate has become both a UKFJG Judge and BFA Membership Director.
